As a Style Coach and Image Consultant, one of the common statements I hear from women is " I have nothing to wear"
As often as I hear it, there are a number of reasons why this could be the case:
The list of reasons is endless.
One often overlooked reason, is that your clothes no longer reflect who you are. Quite possibly, you may not know who you are either!
Let me explain.
You may have maternity clothes in your wardrobe because they're 'comfy', but your child is at school now. You may have suits in your wardrobe from your corporate working days, that you spent a lot of money on and you're keeping 'just in case'. You bought clothes that were in the sale, or looked nice on the rail, but still has the tags on them.
Your life has changed, but your clothes are the same.
You may have reached that point when you no longer recognise yourself and your reflection is filled with frustration and despair.
You simply no longer know who you are.
You Are What You Wear
Why is this?
You see, we really are what we wear.
If you don't believe this to be true, then let me ask you this...have you ever been to a fancy dress party? Everyone wears a costume of their chosen character mainly superheroes and film stars and act out scenes or behave just like the character they're dressed as. As soon as the costume is on, you're in character.
This is where the problem lies when our clothes no longer reflect who we are. We are what we wear and are therefore acting a role that is no longer in alignment to the woman we want to be.
So what can you do?
This is where the fun begins!
Decide who you are and who you want to be!
What does she look like? What does she do? How does she spend her time?
More importantly, what does she wear?
When you know this, make a commitment to get into character and 'become' the woman you desire to be.
Don't wait for a fancy dress party to dress as the woman you want to be, do it now!
